The NIE is the Identification Number for foreigners that you need to have in order to sign in the Notary the purchase contract of your new home. But is also required to identify yourself at the bank and most importantly to get a spanish SIM card number for your phone. Because you will for sure need it, this days you cannot even do a bank operation if you don’t have a local number, since they might send codes to activate your account or making a transfer.
NIE in Polish Embassy
- Scan of a document confirming the desire to buy the property, e.g. a deposit
- After submitting the document, the embassy sends an E-mail with a possible date and information about the necessary documents to prepare (forms, ID, etc.)
- Waiting time to get a date to come personally in the Embassy is approx. 2 months
- After submitting all required documents they usually send the NIE to the address you provided is 2 weeks
- An application for a number cannot be submitted by a notarial authorized person (You need to do it yourself)
